Description :
The Annapurna Scheme aims at providing food security to meet the requirement of those Senior Citizens who though eligible have remained uncovered under the National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAPS). Under the Annapurna Scheme, 10 kg. of foodgrains per month are to be provided free of cost' to the Beneficiary. No fees will be charged, no forms will be filled and no document is needed in order to apply for this scheme
Eligibility:
- Should be 65 years or above
- The applicant must be a destitute in the sense of having little or no regular means of substance from his/her own source of income or through financial support from family members or other sources. In order to determine destitution , the criteria, if any, in force in the States/UTs may also be followed.
- Should not be in receipt of pension under the NOAPS or State Pension Scheme

How To Apply?:
For those old aged people living in rural areas have to apply through the Panchayat Pradhan and those living in Urban areas through the Notified Area Committee. After the approval of the Gram Sabha of the Notified Area Committee it will be further approved by the Welfare Department and the Ration Card will be issued by the responsible authority. Ration card will also be issued after the approval of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.
